Winter in Chicago (although really cold) is amazing! Last weekend I had the ultimate winter day downtown with The Field Museum lit up, a winter solstice bonfire, Christkindlemarket, and the christmas train (video of its amazingness to follow.)
This is what I get to walk into every morning for work and I get to eat lunch next to a dinosaur every afternoon. This summer has thus far been absolutely amazing! I loved staying with my mom in Columbus for a bit and have nothing to do but sleep, eat, paint and read. And although now I’m in bed by 10 everyday and up at 6 in the morning like a fully grown adult, this internship has given me the opportunity to actually physically do what I hope to be doing some years down the road. I would love to share specifics but I’m not sure if I am legally allowed to. So rather than risk it, your are just gonna have to trust me its pretty awesome!
and super excited/ horrified to be starting my internship tomorrow!
UPDATE:
I don’t think I ever mentioned this but the internship I am doing is in the Anthropology conservation lab at the Field Museum in Chicago. It is completely sureal and awe inspireing to walk into a museum that I adored as a child (and as a college student because I am still obsessed with dinosaurs and not ashamed) and actually do work there. Not only that, but it is technically my first real internship in the field I am persuing. I was so overwhelmed and so extremely excited, I did not even know what to do or think.
I’m hoping tomorrow I can go to work with a clear mind and sense of calm really start off fresh! Wish me luck!
There is a fantastic event in downtown Chicago call Christkindlmarket. It is a German christmas market where fantastic food and candy is served in copious quantities. Although I’m not christian, I have already gone once this year and I plan on going back. Maybe I’ll get some photos I can post, but until then, here is a video someone else took.
