Spring is here...?
Finally had my first chance to walk to class without a winter jacket on! 60 degrees and sunny feels amazing!

Value
College is expensive. There is no tiptoeing around that. We have all talked to those long graduated adults still paying off their college loans. It’s a HUGE financial investment that you and/or your family will most likely be paying for years down the road. But that is exactly what it is, an investment. For me, my college choice came down to available majors, cost, and value, with value...

You've got mail!
Over winter break I was going on a little cleaning spree. As I was tearing apart my closet I came across a big yellow envelope with a shinny blue “Congratulations!” on it. It was definitely a big day the day that envelope came in the mail. I’m pretty sure it was the first acceptance I had received, so it truly brought college to my doorstep. So, as they start rolling in, make...

Anonymous asked: I got into UD (SO EXCITED) and would love to go there but one thing is holding me back. Do you know anything about being gay at UD? How accepting are students? Are the clubs or organizations for gay students?

Congratulations
to all of you future Blue Hens! Now’s the fun part where the schools wait for your letters.
Anonymous asked: i have a question. i logged onto my udel portal and it says my application is under review. does that mean i've been waitlisted or denied or does it mean theyre still looking at it?

So it begins...
I got my first taste of spring semester sickness out of the way. Good thing it was the weekend and after only the first week. Other than that, I have little to report on. I’m thoroughly excited to be taking a ceramics course, as well as a new object conservation internship. I’ve never done any form of pottery and I have always wanted to learn how to use those snazzy pottery wheels to...

I’m currently starting to pack and get ready to come back to school. This winter has been relaxing and long, full of t.v., reading, knitting and sleeping, with a little bit of traveling and interning mixed in. Now I can look forward to the last semester of Organic chemistry well rested and ready… hopefully.

(non) study abroad blog post
Everyone seems to be studying abroad this year. Not only here at UD, but all of my friends from home as well. The blog posts, photo albums, and status updates keep flooding in, while I’m sitting on my couch at home for the 7th day straight, eating everything in sight, keeping a constant vigil over Facebook, and watching endless hours of Big Ban Theory and How I Met Your Mother. The closest...

I’m now back in Columbus for the rest of break. It was great to be back at the Field for the brief time that I was. Now I’m spending most of my day eating, sleeping and knitting. I can definitely feel the boredom coming on.

Almost there
The end of the semester is approaching… thankfully?
I cannot wait to go home to Chicago, start up my internship again and see my fantastic family and friends, but between me and this beautiful land stands an army of research papers, exams, final projects and loose ends.
Hopefully being equipped with a utility belt of pens, scratch paper, airborne and caffein will get me through it in one...

Anonymous asked: Hi I see you are from Chicago. Hopefully this is ok to ask and ok for u to answer. Why didnt you go to Columbia College Chicago for their program in Materials Conservation? Any reason in particular you chose UDEL over Columbia? Will wait for your answer. :)

I had an amazing thanksgiving with lots of turkey and family. I went to Columbus this year for the festivities and got to see an amazing exhibit at the Wexner Center (on the OSU campus.) They currently have a huge Annie Leibovitz exhibit up and it was amazing! I wasn’t too familiar with her work and it turns out I like it a lot. The scope of how many people she has photographed is staggering...

Its that time of year!
The application deadlines are creeping up slowly, hiding just behind every corner.
But don’t worry! Sit down, write it, upload it and call it a day. It really isn’t that hard and it doesn’t have to turn into a horror flick. Just keep this in mind…
Write about something that actually interests you or something you really believe in. Generally, people can tell when you are...

Clicking "Submit"
College applications are daunting. There seems to be endless pages of information to fill out, supplements, stalking down teachers to send in recommendations (usually at the last second) and essay after essay. The list grows, adding up to probably an entire class’s worth of work. Every time you run your mouse over the little submit button, your stomach does back flips. You second guess every...

...and there wasn't even any sand.
Hurricane Sandy came and went. All is well! I came back from my little break in PA to find that no tree fell on my dorm and the campus is still where I left it. I’m hoping everyone is well! Stay safe if you have no power or have flooding!

Sitting in the scrounge from 4-9 doing a report for my internship, I witnessed for the first time some of the many little random events that the campus has going on. First, they transformed half the scrounge (the side I was sitting on) into a stage type of deal, literally around me. At 7 they had this Quizzo thing (trivia competition) and then at 8, they had these two comedians come. Although I...

If I could have one superpower...
I would want to have super strength… or be a wizard. I know that is technically not a super power, but since this is hypothetical, I can chose what I want. Being a wizard, I would have way more than a single superpower!
Check out my fellow blogger Sarah’s blog (http://sdrob.tumblr.com/) to see what she would chose!
